Product Description

This picture book biography of Mamie Till-Mobley, mother of Emmett Till, details how she transformed her grief over her son's death into a call to action for the civil rights movement.

Mamie Till-Mobley's son, Emmett Till, was a 14-year-old boy brutally murdered while visiting the South in 1955. His death became a pivotal moment for the civil rights movement, largely due to his mother's efforts to bring his story to the forefront of history.

Choosing Brave by Angela Joy and Janelle Washington is a testament to the power of love, the bond of motherhood, and a woman's advocacy for justice. It is a moving work about a woman who turned her unimaginable grief into action for the greater good, ensuring her son's life made a lasting impact.

The story is suitable for younger readers and is both comprehensive and beautifully told.
