Suggested instructions for using cerium oxide:
(1) Supplies needed:
1.cerium oxide
2.water (some recommend distilled water)
3.polishing wheel
4.electric drill
5.Small plastic tubs (beer or quart size)
6.spray bottle
(2) instructions:
1. Clean the area you are going to work on thoroughly. Make sure there is no dirt or grime on the glass as this may result in additional scratches once you begin polishing.
2. have two small plastic tubs ready; Liter or pint size containers work well. fill half with water.
3. Place your polishing wheel into the water; let it be completely damp, but not dripping wet.
4. Pour some cerium oxide into the empty bathtub and add enough water to create a slurry (a thin, paste-like mixture).
5. Connect the dampened buffing wheel to your electric drill and dip it into the paste.
6. Place the buffing wheel on your desktop, use small size felt wheel if the scrach is near the corner of the windows, keep the wheel moving in a circular motion up and down. Make sure the paste doesn't dry out, as this could cause your cup to overheat and break. If your paste is getting dry, you can spritz it with a spray bottle filled with water.
